Habitat Update
It's an exciting time to be involved with Habitat Interfaith Alliance.  Our partner family this year is going to be the Dulla-Robe family, and the build is going to start May 12th.

Gebi Dulla & Jaware Robe and three of their children:   Amina (12, f), Abdirahman (10, m), Medina (2, f), (and approved for immigration are Abdurirazaki (13, m), and Abdisa (16, f) ), moved to Denver from Ethiopia.  The two children still in Ethiopia are awaiting immigration status and will move here as soon as possible. Gebi is a taxi driver and Jaware works for a day care provider. They are excited to finally have a safe, decent and affordable home to raise their 5 children.  The build is located at 765 Joliet St. in Aurora.

Project Prairie - April

The agenda for the Initial Assessment Visit with our UUA Stewardship Consultant, Kay Crider, is taking shape. The first set of discussions begin at 3:00pm on Friday, May 13, when Kay will have individual meetings with members of Prairie’s staff, including Kristin Famula, Diane Lavinder, and Rev. Jann Halloran.  We have reserved the Pine Drive Fire Station Meeting Room for these meetings. A Dinner Meeting with Kay and our current and incoming Board Members will conclude the first day’s activities.

Project Prairie - March

I’m reminded of the phrase ‘someday this will all seem funny’. It was the second Sunday of my first year as Board President, when our Treasurer, Pat Clifford, received a letter indicating we would have to move our services from Fox Hollow Elementary School. What started out as a daunting challenge proved to be one of Prairie’s finest moments (though I have to admit that the initial phone call to Reverend Jann was not one that I looked forward to, especially considering she had just started her vacation).

We Are Moving!

During the second half of 2010, Prairie experienced a tremendous amount of activity and excitement with regards to our current rental space at Prairie Crossing Elementary School and a future permanent location for our congregation. There have been many discussions, meetings, visits, and other activities, all with the central purpose of finding the best fit for Prairie over the near and long term.

As a result, we will be moving to Sierra Middle School, 6651 Pine Lane, starting March 6. This is an interim home which gives us good capacity to grow. Contact the Rev. Jann Halloran, any Board member, or Mike Spooner, Project Prairie Coordinator, if you have any questions.
